The Ashrama in the course of its journey also participated in relief aid as well as community services. On 26 December 2004, the Indian Ocean earthquake and Tsunami that hit Asia and killed nearly three hundred thousand people brought forth massive humanitarian response from all over the world. The Ashrama decided to find ways to help Indonesia (Aceh) and Sri Lanka. Malaysians from all walks of life donated food items like rice noodles and non-perishable food items, clothes and mineral water to the tune of 12 containers to be sent to Aceh.
The Ashrama raised RM500,000 to be sent as aid to Sri Lanka. The Chairman Tan Sri Dr K Ampikaipakan and members of the Ashrama Management Committee went to Sri Lanka with funds to assist in their recovery programme.
In May 2020, during Covid-19 pandemic, the Ashrama distributed food parcels and cash to about 240 students and parents from economically challenged homes. This was to assist families cope with MCO ( Movement Control Order) resulting in lost of earnings to many due to lockdown imposed nationwide.
